Red Bull Liberation in Thailand. Authentic Red Bull in Thailand.

It is often funny what America thinks the “original” products are that exist in our country are so misleading.  Every other nation allows for beer to go unpasteurized, restaurants to have “open air kitchens (minus Europe and Canada), tweaks for the “American” palate (which I think means more to fit the governments FDA ha-ba-lu) I am just thinking that if the FDA couldn’t take their controlling cut in the economy then what would happen to America’s palate and sudo culture?

I was speaking with a close chef friend of mine while on this trip (he is European) and he brought up a very interesting point- “Does your country really practice freedom?”….hmmm…

Hat NANG YUAN, Thailand (outside of Ko Tao). Day trip to Hat Nang Yuan

After passing this magical looking place I began to do my research when I returned back from the dive boat..sure enough it was listed in both travel books I brought along… it is 3 islands that are connected by powder white sand bars (only during low tide!).

The entry way to Nang Yuan

I knew it was time for me to move on from Ko Tao, but first I had to make it out here, not too far from the island, so I hired a “long tail” boat to take me there, and that experience could be a whole other post, but time in the sun is just to precious!  If you want the experience you will just have to come to Thailand yourself!

The islands host a resort called Nang Yuan Resort.  This is the only resort allowed to operate a restaurant, dive facility, etc. on the island… I would like to know who to strike a deal like that with!

Best Food in Ko Tao, Thailand. Mr. Shi Crazy Pancake Man of Ko Tao, Thailand.

I had the true pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Shi (ch-ai) by some local dive instructors.  His pancake stand (mobile unit connected to his electric bike) is located right outside of 7-11 just behind Ban’s Dive Resort.  He is a true master of his craft, serving pancakes in Ko Tao for over 10 years.  They are great, sober or not ;)

Ko Tao, Thailand. Travel Review on Food, Beaches, SCUBA Diving and Nightlife.

Here I find myself checking out of Ban’s Dive Resort- debating where to head out to next.  This trip has been a very stress free experience with no set agenda.  As I drop this post in, I am flipping a coin to stay one more evening or pack it up and move on…

Sariee Beach

A quick snap shot about BAN’s –It appeared to be a laid back small dive resort on Ko Tao (online), not so much the case. The resort is clean and simple but felt more like a Motel 6.  If you plan on diving on the island my suggestion is hook up with another dive company and spend the extra few dollars.  I was not impressed with the large boats full of divers, and 15 foot stride from the bow into the water. (Dangerous!)
