Welcome to BeyondtheKitchen.com, a blog about food, travel, cooking, chefs, recipes, and culture. BTK is the brainchild of Chef David Gilbert, who has worked at the best restaurants and hotels from coast to coast in America and in numerous foreign countries.
In June 2009, Gilbert borrowed a friend’s backpack and headed off to Thailand for a month, to explore a part of the world he was always fascinated about. The time had come for a radical change from the only life he knew. Gilbert hung up the chef jacket (for a while) and went to explore the world’s food scene!
Most recently Chef Gilbert has returned from Shanghai, China where he served as the Executive Chef representing the U.S.A. at the World Expo.
