Karma in Thailand

Irony has struck! We are hanging up the backpacks and checking into a 5 star resort. Good karma came my way, right?

My old friend, chef, comedian, and the only Frenchman I know with a loose sense of humor, Olivier “Frenchy” has come to join me for the adventure. Frenchy has flown in from Jakarta, Indonesia for 5 days. We agreed to continue the journey as backpackers but after hours of scouring the beaches for bungalows neither of us were feeling the local accommodations.

Frenchy ran into a friend when he was flying to Thailand who’s family owned a string of hotels and resorts through Thailand. We stop to eat lunch and the call comes in from his friend. Simply put an offer (comped) to stay at their resort for a few nights. We take the name, Kamala Resort, and I pull out the trusty Guide to Thailand, and what do you know it is the only 6 star resort on Koh Samui. His friend happen to leave out it was a holistic spa & wellness resort. Hello, sign me up!

The call ended by us agreeing and within 20 minutes we pulled up (in the hoop-ti Suzuki Samari Jeep we rented), with a light Chang beer smell (surely).  Greeted by last name at the reception and lemongrass tea waiting. I could get used to this!

Relaxation, yoga, pool, ocean view villa, what else could I ask for?  (well, lets not go there… )
